Reynolds Gallery is pleased to announce a pop up exhibition, Off The Cuff, in Boston, MA. The show will open with a reception on Friday, November 11 from 6–9 pm. The gallery will be open every day November 11–17 from 11 am to 6 pm, and will close with a reception on Thursday, November 17 from 6–9 pm. Reynolds Gallery: Off the Cuff is located at 91 Newbury Street, Boston, MA.
Based in Richmond, Virginia, Reynolds Gallery has been exhibiting challenging contemporary art since 1977. The gallery was founded by Beverly Reynolds once she identified the need and opportunity for a contemporary art gallery in Richmond. Her first show included Alexander Calder gouaches and Max Ernst drawings. Over the next three decades, Reynolds Gallery grew into one of the most well-known Mid-Atlantic galleries, exhibiting many blue-chip artists like Ellsworth Kelly, John Baldessari, and Wolf Kahn. In addition, Reynolds Gallery represents regional artists from a rich pool of talent in Virginia, often professors and students from Virginia Commonwealth University. (VCUarts is ranked the number one public art school in the nation.) In 2014 Alice Livingston, Bev’s daughter, and Julia Monroe, former assistant director, took over as co-directors of the gallery.
We continue our founder’s legacy of fierce commitment to exhibiting the highest caliber of artists and building lasting relationships with clients to make the experience of looking at art engaging and personal. Our strength lies in the broad spectrum of work we exhibit and our belief that art is a central component to life. Whether you’re a seasoned collector, a curious beginner, or simply passing through – we invite you to join us in our mission to inspire every day.
With these goals in mind, we have partnered with Bev’s son and daughter-in-law Quentin and Sarah Reynolds of Wellesley, MA to bring Reynolds Gallery to Boston. Off the Cuff is our second venture in the area. Last year Quentin and Sarah opened their home for a private exhibition that was highly well received. This laid the groundwork for two public pop ups this year, the first in Georgetown, Washington, DC in May and the upcoming Newbury Street gallery. Expanding Off The Cuff to a public pop up allows us the opportunity to connect with old friends and art enthusiasts in one of our favorite cities.
Off the Cuff is an exhibition that highlights current works by a number of gallery artists, many of whom are already established in the national contemporary art scene and others who have the potential to take off as rising art stars. The show will include works by Isabel Bigelow, Nell Blaine, Nancy Blum, Sally Bowring, Richard Carlyon, Ben Durham, Tara Donovan, David Freed, Meghan Gerety, Isca Greenfield-Sanders, Alison Hall, James Hyde, Ron Johnson, Wolf Kahn, Jason Keith, Ellsworth Kelly, Matt King, Sally Mann, Jiha Moon, Richard Roth, Robert Stuart, Leigh Suggs, Donald Sultan, Heide Trepanier, Jack Wax, Natalie Westbrook, and others.
It’s quick. It’s fun. It’s great art. Don’t miss it.
